How do I withdraw an application?

Modified on Tue, 23 Jan, 2024 at 1:56 PM

Applications not yet in vetting

If you have started an application but it is yet to be completed, approved, countersigned and sent to the DBS, there is a straightforward way of removing this.

Once you login to your account, select the application you would like to withdraw from the dashboard.

When you are in the application, scroll to the foot of the page and you will see a red button to withdraw the application.

If the application was paid for by the applicant, this will automatically trigger a refund to them (where the application is paid for by your business you will not pay until the application is countersigned, so there would be no refund in this scenario).

Applications already in vetting

Once an application has been countersigned (or approved in the case of Basic applications), this will be sent to the DBS to carry out the vetting. If you would like to withdraw an application once it has reached this stage, please email the withdrawal request to withdrawals@ucheck.co.uk.

As the vetting process has begun, the DBS will not issue a refund for the cost of the application and the cost will therefore be forfeited.

We also cannot guarantee that the application will be withdrawn before the check has completed, as the turnaround times for applications can be much faster than the time it takes for the DBS to action a withdrawal request.

Applications that have been queried by the DBS

If you have received an email for an Urgent DBS Application Query, this can often in result in the application being withdrawn due to incorrect or inconsistent information having been submitted.

In this scenario, it is important that you still send a response to the query so that this can be passed on to the DBS. This will help resolve the query on the application should the applicant need to apply again.

If at this point the applicant will no longer be working for you, please respond to the query email stating the reason for this and confirming if you would like the application to be withdrawn.
