What is the DBS Update Service?

Modified on Tue, 23 Jan, 2024 at 10:44 AM

The Update Service is offered by the DBS to allow applicants to have a transferrable check conducted for a small annual fee.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Update Service allows:

  • applicants to keep their DBS certificates up to date
  • employers to check a DBS certificate

The service is for standard and enhanced DBS checks only, and any applications where the DBS have issued a manual certificate will not be able to be added to the Update Service.

The DBS must receive your application form within 28 days of the completion of the check.

This is a service offered exclusively by the DBS and cannot be requested via uCheck.

For full details of how to join the Update Service, please visit DBS Update Service - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
